When wound and the start/stop pull in actuated, the bird emerges through pierced and chased gilt grille, moving metal beak, wings, tailfeather and body from side-to-side to continuous synchronised birdsong.
The bird with multi-coloured feathered plumage in tones of red, blue, yellow and black, polished lid interior, in twin-part case, the top half containing the movement, with the bird lid of silver filigree fanwork, rhyme notation bar of four positions scrolling forward by one each time bird is actuated, bar terminals and corners with further silver filigree bosses capped with hardstone centres, front with matched square filigrees, base half with fitted red velvet interior for jewellry with eight bosses, front centre butterfly with cloisonne enamel infil.
 
Point of interest -
